Till then Hyderabad and Secunderabad city folks habituated to travel their local journies with the use of buses and autos, a new experience came up when MMTS (Multi Modal Transport System) was launched in Hyderbad city. Exactly 15 years back MMTS Trains were launched by Deputy Prime Minister of India Shri Lal Krishna Advani, united AP chief minister shirt Nara Chandra babu naidu and central minister Dattatreya. From then onwards there is substantial relation has formed between city commuters and mmts journey which is very cheap and pollution free journey.
Initially in 2003 August it was launched between Secunderabad to Lingampally with 23km and Hyderabad to Limgampally with 24km, afterwards in 2004 February 14 the services are started from Secunderabad to Falaknuma. Initial launch it was with 158 crores with 43km with 48 services with 27 stations with 13k commuters. Now mmts is running with 121 daily services with 1.7 lakh commuters. MMTS trains are always ready to help the twin city commuters to reach their destinations place whenever there is any strikes, bandh, bus strike or auto strike etc. And very soon the mmts second phase will also come into service then almost 6 lakh commuters can travel daily. The phase 2 includes 95km with estimated cost as 816 crores. You can know the mmts live status on downloading hylites app through android store, every mmts stations are having atvm (automatic ticket vending machine) to take the ticket printouts as per the requirement, women and first class bhogies contains the home guard or RPF persons and with the use of UTS mobile app you can book daily tickets, season tickets and platform tickets also.
